I enjoyed the author's POV as the constant "new girl" (I can relate but thankfully was able to stay in one city from ages 12-18) and wish to say "thank you" for sharing your dark times to show they CAN be a springboard into the light.Product details

Puffy and Blue is so much more than the story of a girl and her cat. It is a heart warming and heart wrenching story of a girl and how she persevered and overcame many struggles. Kayla's story should be an inspiration to us all. As for Puffy, lets just say she was an amazing and loyal companion who helped her favorite person navigate the pitfalls of life and emerge a formidable woman. This is one story you won't want to miss!
Did you know people look at you funny when you laugh out loud in the doctor’s office? Puffy & Blue had me in stitches from the start. I love the in your face I refuse to conform, I WILL WEAR MY BLUE BOOTS!!!! I can feel each moment of fear, doubt, questioning that the author feels. She paints a heartfelt picture of her downward spiral into alcoholism and trying to self medicate the pain away. She also paint hilarious pictures of her beloved com-padre Puffy the cat. I get tickled each time I imagine what Puffy was thinking or would have said while she was hanging onto the roof top of Kayla’s mother’s car as it was driving down the street. That made image made me laugh so hard the soda I was drinking came out my nose!
Kayla also lets us know through her journey that no matter how far we think are from God he is never far from us and has never left our sides.
I never knew a cat could be capable of following her beloved person to school, or of raising a young girl while teaching her important life lessons, but Fioravanti's Puffy and Blue proved me wrong on both counts. Readers need not be cat-lovers to appreciate the beautiful mutual bond of love between a girl and her adoring kitty. Fioravanti's stories of incredible devotion between a girl and a black-ball-of-fur kitten named Puffy, had me laughing and crying through every chapter.
If you are an animal lover and know how strong the bond can be with a pet then you will love this book. you follow Kayla through life as she grows up with 2 cats and a dog. She has an amazing bond with Puffy the cat.
You travel the world with Kayla and Puffy. They experience joy, excitement, depression and tragedy throughout life.
I would recommend this to be read by teenagers due to all the live lessons that can come from this book. I think most people will be able to relate to the book in some way shape or form.
What does an amazing life lived look like? LIKE THIS! Kayla takes us on a journey of childhood, friendships, family, lessons learned and hope reborn as she shares her love and life with a cat that helped mold her into adulthood. Go along with a little girl as she sees the world and its people through eyes of innocence to becoming an inquisitive and adventurous young person who battles with life lessons learned far to early and belonging in a world she doesn't feel comfortable in to finally emerging into a young woman with strength, determination, perseverance and a solid identity that carries her to new heights of more amazing life left to live. And she does it all with her best friend...a precocious and nurturing cat. As I read each page, I became more enthralled and captivated. I traveled to countries with the girl, her best friend and her family as Kayla's words made me feel as if I was there, right beside Puffy and Blue. I had breath-taking adventures that had me cringing one moment and cheering the next. I sobbed tears of sadness as I felt the pain, fear and confusion that this girl felt at various times in life and shed tears of joy when the hurdles were jumped, crisis was averted or triumph was achieved. Being the same age and having much in common with her, I saw the timeline and experiences over 2 decades of maturing and growing through Kayla's eyes just as vividly as if I was living those exact days and experiences myself. This is a book I will hold dear, reread over and over and share with others.

In her own words "Thanks to David Sanford for the role he played in making this book happen." Not true! "David offered to read anything I wrote, but asked that I never send him a book about a cat. I followed all of his advice except this one point." True! "I hope I prove him wrong about cat books." True again!
